Personal Profile
Dr. Jeff Dongieux has been practicing Oral & Maxillofacial Surgery for 20 years and has performed over 40,000 oral surgical procedures. His first practice was located in Houma, Louisiana. Dr. Dongieux comes from a family involved in dentistry. His father and uncle were practicing orthodontists in the New Orleans area for 50 years.
Dr. Dongieux was raised in New Orleans and following high school he was recruited to attend Mississippi College on a golf scholarship. Following college, Dr. Dongieux attended dental school for 4 years in New Orleans, Louisiana. He then performed his specialty training in Oral & Maxillofacial Surgery in New York City for 4 years, completing his surgical residency in 2002. Following the completion of his residency, Dr. Dongieux was an associate in private practice in Florida.
Throughout his dental school and residency education, Dr. Dongieux has received extensive training in orthognathic surgery, dental implant surgery, along with oral and facial reconstructive surgery using bone grafting techniques and distraction osteogenisis. He has also performed research comparing intraoperative sedation and recovery times using the most adavanced anesthesia techniques and monitoring devices. Dr. Dongieux has written publications regarding bone grafting for dental implants with some of the pioneering implant surgeons from around the country. Additionally, he has presented lectures to other Oral & Maxillofacial surgeons at national meetings regarding his anesthesia and implant research.
On September 11, 2001 Dr. Dongieux was chief resident at Bellevue Hospital in New York when the World Trade Center terrorist attacks occured. He volunteered to help in the rescue and recovery efforts that evening and for the weeks that followed at “Ground Zero”. He has performed media interviews and lectured to high school students regarding his experiences while working at ” Ground Zero”.
Hobbies & Interests
Dr. Dongieux is married and has two children named Dylan and Eli. In his spare time he enjoys spending time with his family and playing golf. During the remodeling of his office after hurricane Ida, Dr. Dongieux began learning to play electric and acoustic guitar.
