Before Intravenous Anesthesia Sedation
- You may not have anything to eat or drink (including water) for eight (8) hours prior to the appointment.
- No smoking, vaping, recreational drug use or drinking alcohol 48 hours prior to surgery. Ideally, cut down or stop smoking as soon as possible prior to the day of surgery.
- A responsible adult must accompany the patient to the office, remain in the office during the procedure, and drive the patient home.
- The patient should not drive a vehicle or operate any machinery for 24 hours following the anesthesia experience.
- Please wear loose fitting clothing with sleeves which can be rolled up past the elbow, and closed-toe shoes.
- Contact lenses, jewelry, and dentures must be removed at the time of surgery.
- Do not wear lipstick, excessive makeup, nail polish or fake nails on the day of surgery.
- If you have an illness such as a cold, sore throat, stomach or bowel upset, please notify the office.
- If you take routine oral medications, please check with Dr. Dongieux prior to your surgical date for instructions.
- If prescribed a pre-medication, it must be taken prior to your surgical appointment.
- If you are under the age of 18 years old, you must have a parent or legal guardian with you the day of surgery. The legal guardian must have legal paperwork as proof at the time of your appointment.
- Please arrive 15 minutes prior to your scheduled appointment to take care of payment arrangements and sign additional paperwork. If you are more than 10 minutes late, you must reschedule your appointment.
- Your appointment must be confirmed in order to guarantee treatment.
- If any of the criteria above is not met the day of surgery, you will be asked to reschedule your appointment.
